Welcome to Fountains Earth

Our school is a very special place with a true family feel due to the small numbers on roll and a staff team that care deeply about the community it serves. Children of all ages enjoy coming together from the two classes to take part in whole school events such as baking, themed days, sporting activities, paired reading, circle times and stories.

Class One consists of Early Years and Key Stage One children (4 to 7 years) and
Class Two is our Key Stage Two class (7 to 11 years).

Our adult to pupil ratio is approximately 1:5 which puts the children in the privileged position of having personalised support in all areas of the curriculum but particularly in developing key English and Maths skills.

A visit is an ideal way to discover this for yourself – please don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like to see the school in action!

School History

Fountains Earth Lofthouse Church of England Endowed Primary School serves the Upper Nidderdale communities of Lofthouse, Middlesmoor, Ramsgill and beyond. The school was endowed in 1743 for the education of ten poor boys of the parish.  Since then it has been rebuilt and modernised to very high specification including two classrooms, library, mini IT suite, hall, kitchen, playground, adventure play area and large school field.

Local Area

The school is part of the Nidderdale ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ which enhances the children’s education even further learning from the stunning natural surroundings as much as possible. We also have one of two North Yorkshire Outdoor Education Centres – Bewerley Park on our doorstep for outdoor and adventurous activities.

Partnerships

Fountains Earth CE and St Cuthbert’s CE are currently working in collaboration and consultation is underway to formally federate. This will strengthen the partnership even further. I feel very privileged to lead both schools and am passionate about capitalising on all the benefits that federation will bring to the children and families of both schools.
