School Forum Autumn 2016School Forum Autumn 2016

Our School Forum consists of our four Year 5 and 6 pupils and Mrs Metcalfe, KS2  teacher. The school Forum meets regularly to discuss all sorts of issues affecting life in school and plan many new initiatives to make Lofthouse an even better place to learn and play.

We have led a school assembly about Fairtrade which counted towards us winning our Fairaware award! We had a poster competition and have put up the winning entries on our noticeboard. Our next project is to plan a Harvest celebration!

When we got there we collected conkers. When we got there we collected conkers. Our visit to the Pupil Voice Conference!

On the 4th of November, the school forum from Fountains Earth Primary School went to the Voice Conference in Harrogate.

We had to arrive at school and be ready for quarter past eight which was when we left. First we had to drive down to St Cuthbert’s because we were going with four of their pupils. When we arrived at the Voice Conference we checked in, and then received a bag, a pencil and a name tag.

We went to have fun, learn lots and bring lots of information back to school. Programme of the day:

  1. Indian cooking and dressing up and learning the alphabet in Punjabi.
  2. Hot seating which was talking to people and asking questions.
  3. Voice for life - drama

Lunch: a buffet with top quality food!

We met a paralympian!

We met an athlete called Kadeena Cox; she ran many races which were very successful. She entered sprinting and cycling events, winning bronze silver and gold medals in both events. Her dream was to be an Olympian but sadly she  suffered from a stroke and then later on in life became a paralympian because of her multiple sclerosis.

Altogether it was an amazing day; we had lots of fun and learnt lots of interesting facts.
